first lent away from home


i miss the Philippines.

no matter how hot it is in the Philippines right now, i still regret that i am spending my lenten season away from my family this 2010. and what made my holy week even worse this year was the fact that i had to go to work! my work time was from 9am til 7pm so how in the world do you think i'd be able to drop by church and do my yearly station of the cross?! hayyyy, buhay sa Amerika nga naman!

luckily, i got an early off from work last Maundy Thursday so i used that time to go to church and catch up with my friends/housemates at Bryant Park. it was my first time to ride a different subway train coming from Bronx (coz i'm only used to riding the 7, 5 or N trains) so i almost freaked out when i saw the loooong escalators to the F train. if only curse words could cause earthquakes, the whole New York City would've collapsed! i wanted to cry when i saw the escalators... but well, some fears must be conquered. thank God i am still alive! lolz.

anyway, i ditched work last Good Friday. i pretended to have an allergy (sssshhhhh...) so i could just stay home & rest, run some personal errands and go to church too. kung kelan last day of work ko na sa kanila, saka pa ako tinamad! :) well, money isn't everything. i refuse to be the kind of person who keeps thinking of "sayang yung perang kikitain ko." i tell you kahit i-double or triple pay pa nila ako, that will never make me come to work on a day like Good Friday. kung ganun ako sa Pinas, ako'y mananatiling ganun pa din dito sa Amerika.
